Characters: Menteth, Angus, Cathness, Lenox
Events: The Scottish rebels against Macbeth approach Dunsinane. Meanwhile, the Thanes discuss Macbeth’s unusual behaviour and his loss of control. The Scottish army march towards Birham to meet the English army (led my Malcolm and Macduff) that will aid them in their war with Macbeth.
Quote/s: “Great Dunsinane he strongly fortifies.
Some say he’s mad: others, that lesser hate him,
Do call it valiant fury; but, for certain,
He cannot buckle his distempered cause
Within the belt of rule.”
“Well; march we on,
To give obedience where ‘t is truly owed:
Meet we the medicine of the sickly weal;
And with him pur we, in our country’s purge,
Each drop of us.”
